400 Bad Request – Excel 2013 Addon

marcb asked 7 years ago
We encounter the error message below when we attempt to push to much information to the WCF using the Excel addin. The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request. – The addon ribbon validates the connection successfully – The SmartConnect WCF service is configured correctly (I was able to view the http://server:5557/SmartConnect.svc/validate and /validatesession messages). – The same Excel file on the same computer can be used to import information as long as there are less than 248 rows in the Excel file The only log or event I could find is in the IIS logs. Those logs confirmed that communication was occurring with the SmartConnect WCF. But when compared to a successfully executed import (less than 248 lines) I see two GET commands in the log and two POST commands in response. But when I encounter the bad request error there are two GET commands and only one POST command. Here is an example of a failed attempt where we hit the ‘bad request’ error: 2015-02-03 21:01:51 GET /smartconnect.svc/getmapcolumns map=GP_JOURNAL_ENTRY_SLCT 5557 – – – 401 0 0 10686 2015-02-03 21:01:52 GET /smartconnect.svc/getmapcolumns map=GP_JOURNAL_ENTRY_SLCT 5557 – – – 200 0 0 1199 2015-02-03 21:01:52 POST /smartconnect.svc/runmapdatatable/all/GP_JOURNAL_ENTRY_SLCT/1 – 5557 – – – 400 0 0 13

Marc,

Customize the following section in the web.config file in the SmartConnectWCF folder. Then restart the web service.

<webHttpBinding>
        <binding>
          <readerQuotas maxStringContentLength="2147483647"/>
        </binding>
</webHttpBinding>

To this:

<webHttpBinding>
        <binding maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647">
          <readerQuotas maxStringContentLength="2147483647"/>
        </binding>
</webHttpBinding>
